LAX for the Cure Volunteers

We are an office of six staff and were able to raise over $2.5 million last year only because of volunteers and people like you. You can check out the LAX for the Cure site at http://www.laxforthecure.com. This is the first time Central and South Jersey will be benefiting from the money raised. The good news is that the money raised will stay in Central and South Jersey (last year all the money stayed in North Jersey) given out in the form of grants for breast cancer screening and education.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions. Again thank you for your help! I will see if I know anyone lacrosse ladies who would be interested in helping you guys out.

Friends of Chris Sanderson, Hopewell Valley Lacrosse

Lacrosse friends -
Over the past 8 years Chris Sanderson has been a big part of lacrosse here in Central & Southern NJ. While some of you were not a formal part of his True North Lacrosse program, his service and dedication to our youth organizations and lacrosse in the broader community has been a big part of our successes.

As many, if not all, of you are well aware, Chris has been battling a grade IV glioma, malignant brain tumor (Glioblastoma Multiforme) since last December. Chris, his wife Brogann, and their two daughters, Stevie and Clementine, have been through much these past six months. But they are committed to fighting this disease with every ounce of energy they have.

The NJ Lacrosse family has responded magnificently these past few months to help the Sandersons: whether by cooking meals for the family, contributing to the food fund at the Pennington Market, or in various other ways. These have not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated by the family.

However, there is much more we all can do to help. The medical treatment Chris and his team of doctors are pursuing is not inexpensive. So, a group of Chris's friends - the "Friends of 17" - have launched a fundraising drive and come up with a fundraising idea which combines Chris's love of lacrosse with his love for "entertainment". And so, the Friends of 17 True North Lacrosse reunion is set for Saturday, June 27th at the Hopewell Valley boys' high school lacrosse fields. A skills clinic for younger players will kick things off at 3:00pm, a True North "alumni" game(s) for players of high school age and up will follow at 4:00pm and then wrapping the day up will be a family-style cook out.

If you and/or your family would like to attend on the 27th, please RSVP to friendsof17@gmail.com to let us know if you plan to participate in the skills clinic, play in the game or just hang out to support Chris and his family. (All players will be required to provide proof of current US Lacrosse membership - please include this information when you RSVP.) But even if you cannot join us on June 27th, you can still help. For those of you who would like to make a contribution (non-deductible for tax purposes) to support this effort, checks may be made payable and sent to:

"Friends of 17"

130 Route 31 North, Suite H

Pennington, New Jersey 08534

Updates and additional information regarding the day will be posted at http://www.hovallax.com.
Let's get our families and the True North Lacrosse family together on June 27th to come out and support Chris and his family. It promises to be a great day!

Friends of the Sandersons

Hopewell Valley's own Chris Sanderson. As many of you know, Chris operates True North Lacrosse and is a volunteer lacrosse coach with HVL organization.

Many of you are aware, but some are not, that Chris and his wife, Brogann, are in the midst of a formidable challenge. Chris recently had surgery at Duke University Medical Center for a grade IV glioma, malignant brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme. The surgery was successful and Chris and Brogann returned to Pennington last week. Chris is scheduled to start chemotherapy and radiation as early as this week at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of the doctors from Duke If you would like to help Chris and Brogann out through the Sanderson Food Fund, please send or drop off any contributions to:

Pennington Market ATTN: MICHAEL ROTHWELL FOR: SANDERSON FAMILY 25 Route 31 South, Suite X Pennington, NJ 08534

On behalf of all involved with lacrosse in the Hopewell Valley and beyond, Thank You!! Steve Faber President Hopewell Valley Lacrosse president@hovallax.com

Our Chapter promotes, supports and serves the lacrosse community in the following ways:

  • POSITIVE LACROSSE
  • NEW START PROGRAM FOR BEGINNING TEAMS
  • BOYS & GIRLS UNDER-13 AND UNDER-15 ALL STARS
  • NJ LACROSSE HALL OF FAME
  • NJ SOUTH LACROSSE WEBSITE

Membership is the lifeline to the success of the NJ South Chapter as we are directly funded by the very successful “Chapter Rebate Program”. The program is very simple and allows a certain portion of your membership dues to go directly back to our chapter. We have also relied upon the very generous gifts from corporate and individual sponsors.

The New Jersey South Lacrosse Foundation’s policy is determined by a board of directors which represent every aspect of the game, and by an Executive Committee which meets bi-monthly to monitor the progress of the Chapter. Youth and High School boys’ and girls’divisions under the board address the issues specific to the play of each version of the game; councils within and/or between each division represent each constituency of the game; and committees throughout the organization focus on specific areas of operation.

Our Chapter’s goal is to encourage membership, and to promote the highest level of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Safety and respect for every player, coach and referee is expected at all times, both on and off the field.
