2003 Inductees to the New Jersey Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame

Andrew DeCicco - Columbia High School '86, Rutgers University '90, Head Coach, Seton Hall Prep - A graduate of Columbia High School, Andrew DeCicco was a member of the Cougars' attack from 1983-1986. An all-section selection in 1984, 1985, 1986 , he was also a 1986 high school All-America selection. Andrew went on to play for Rutgers University, where he was a second team All-America selection with the Scarlet Knights. He served as team captain in his senior season, helping the squad to a #3 national ranking and a trip to the NCAA Final 8 in 1990. During his four-year career, the Scarlet Knights went 36-22. After graduation, Andrew was a 1991 first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Wings professional team. He played with the Wings and later the New York Saints from 1991-1994; he also began competing with the NJ Toyota team in 1991, and continues to play with the squad. Since he began playing on the Toyota squad, the team has compiled an overall 144-48 record. Andrew has served as an assistant coach at Drew University, Rutgers University, Sacred Heart College, and Lafayette University (1997-2002). Currently a teacher at Seton Hall Prep, Andrew also serves as head coach of the boys program. In addition, he coached in the 2003 North/South All-Star game as well as at the 2003 Garden State Games.

Mary Beth Driscoll - Chatham Township High School '80, Lock Haven University '84, Head Coach, Hunterdon Central High School - Mary Beth Driscoll played at Chatham Township High School from 1976-1980 and was named the Newark Star-Ledger Scholastic-Athlete of the Year in 1979. A New Jersey All-State selection in 1979, Mary Beth was also a standout field hockey and basketball player. She went on to play at Lock Haven University from 1980-1984. Mary Beth was a first-team all-conference selection in 1982, 1983, and 1984, and helped guide Lock Haven to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship during those same years. In 1984, she was chosen as a first-team All-America, and was all-division selection. Upon graduation, she played competitively with the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Association from 1984 until 1990. Mary Beth began her coaching career at Columbia High School, where she served as an assistant from 1984-1986. She was named head coach at Chatham in 1986, and then joined the staff at West Essex in 1989. She began coaching at Hunterdon Central High School in 1993, and was chosen as the 1997 Newark Star-Ledger Coach of the Year. A health and physical education instructor at Hunterdon Central, Mary Beth was also an assistant coach for basketball and field hockey, and served as president of the New Jersey Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association from 1996-2000. She has chaired the NJSCA Girls Lacrosse Coaches Clinic from 1998 until the present, and has been an official with the Central Jersey Field Hockey Coaches Association since 1996, serving as president since 2002.

Paul Hooper - Columbia High School '78, Washington (MD) College '82 - A 1978 graduate of Columbia High School, Paul Hooper earned two varsity letters as a member of CHS's attack. He was a two-time all-state selection (1997 and 1978), serving as team captain during those seasons. Paul was named the 1978 Columbia High School Most Valuable Player and was a Newark Star Ledger "All-Century" selection, leading the state with 96 total points. Paul went on to play at Washington (MD) College for four years, and was a 1981 and 1982 collegiate All-America selection. He led the team in scoring in three of his four years, serving as team captain in 1981 and 1982. In 1982, he was chosen as the Washington College "Male Athlete of the Year" and was a starter in the North/South All-Star game. After college, he went on to play for one year in Australia as a member of the attack of the team North Adelaide, and was chosen to play with the 1983 All-Australia team in Perth. During that time Paul also served as an assistant coach of the North Adelaide lacrosse club team. He returned to the U.S. in 1984 and was named as an assistant coach at Dartmouth; Paul went on to an assistant coaching position at the University of North Carolina in 1985 and 1986, helping UNC to the 1986 NCAA title. He was named head coach at the University of Vermont in 1987, and concluded his coaching career at Brown University as an assistant coach from 1988 to 1992. Presently the co-owner of Porta Phone company, Paul and his wife Kim reside in Wakefield, Rhode Island with their two sons, Matty and Scotty.

Chris Johnson - Montclair High School '78, Springfield (MA) College '83, Head Coach, Montclair High School - The head coach at Montclair High School since 1990, Chris Johnson began his coaching career in 1983 as an assistant coach at Montclair. He also served as the head coach of the junior varsity squad from 1983 to 1989, taking the team to the a 1985 New Jersey Interscholastic Coaches Association Junior Varsity State Championship. In his tenure as head coach, he has taken his squad to the New Jersey State championship in 1992 and 1997. In 1992, he was named the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association Coach of the Year, and was selected as the Newark Star-Ledger Coach of the Year in 1997. In addition, he was named Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association in 1998. Chris served as the coach of the Southeast team for the Garden State Games from 1990 to 1998, and coaches the Gibbs Division All-Star team from 1992 through 1997. Chris is a 1978 graduate of Montclair High School, and went on to play at Springfield College in Massachusetts. He was a face-off specialist at Springfield, helping the quad to the 1982 NCAA tournament.

Darren M. McGurn - West Morris Mendham High School '93, Ohio Wesleyan University '98- Darren McGurn is a 1993 graduate of West Morris Mendham High School, where he enjoyed a stellar four-year career as a member of the attack. He was a 1992 and 1993 all-section selection and earned high school All-America honors in 1993. He helped WMM to the Iron Hills Conference title in 1993. After graduation, he spent one season at Bridgeton Academy (1994) as a member of their attack. Following his high school career, Darren went on to enjoy an even more exemplary career at Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a four-time all-conference selection (1995-1998), and was named third-team All-America in 1995 and first-team All-America three consecutive years in 1996, 1997, and 1998. He capped his career by playing on the 1998 NCAA Division III Senior all-star team South squad after being named the USILA Division III Attackman of the Year and the Division III Player of the Year.In 1995, Darren and OWU teammate Dave MaGuire were featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" for their accomplishments. He worked numerous summer camps and clinics when he returned to NJ during his college years, including camps at Princeton University and West Morris Mendham. He remains active in lacrosse, working summer camps at Georgia Tech and Miami. Darren and his wife, Jennifer, currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
